The EU’s member states added a total of 15GW of new wind power in 2022, a one third increase on last year that industry group WindEurope summed up as “not too bad – but not enough” as it pointed to a worrying fall in investments.
The 15GW installed by the bloc’s 27 nations represents an uplift on the 11GW added in 2021, WindEurope said as it released preliminary figures that showed 90% of the new capacity was onshore with Germany, Sweden and Finland leading the charge, followed by Spain and France.
