There were doubts over the Japanese plans of two of the world’s major suppliers of offshore wind turbines after Vestas shelved proposals for a factory there and Siemens Gamesa said it “will reconsider its strategy” following a government regulatory review.

Vestas cited a lack of orders to support construction of a nacelle facility in time to meet a government subsidy deadline as it confirmed to Recharge that it has now put on hold plans to build the plant.
