Building the gigascale Trollvind floating wind array off Norway will push down prices for floating wind while collaboration with other oil & gas majors will speed up the industrialisation of the technology, Equinor’s floating wind chief Sonja Chirico Indrebø told Recharge.

The Norwegian oil group on Friday revealed plans to build the 1GW project together with TotalEnergies, Shell, ConocoPhillips and Petoro off Bergen in western Norway that would provide electricity to decarbonise operations at the nearby Troll and Osbjerg oil and gas fields at less than $100 per megawatt hour.
