US carmaker General Motors’ venture capital arm has led an investment round of up to $10m that will help fund development and commercialisation of Wind Catcher, an innovative 100-plus turbine floating design hatched by a Norwegian start-up Wind Catching Systems (WCS).

In addition to GM Ventures, participating in the series A round in the eye-catching concept unveiled last year, were current investors Ferd and North Energy, and new investor Havfonn, a privately held Oslo-based real estate firm.
