Global floating wind pioneer Simply Blue is working on a giga-scale plan off Northern Ireland in addition to the project ambitions it has already revealed there, a company executive told an industry event.

Simply Blue is carrying out early-stage development activities for the 1.3GW Olympic project, said Sam McCloskey, the company’s Northern Ireland advisor.

Olympic – earmarked for a site 15-20km off Northern Ireland’s southeast coast with wind speeds of 10 metres/second – joins the up-to-500MW Nomadic project on Simply Blue’s publicly disclosed Northern Ireland roster.
