The European Commission has firmed its REPowerEU plan to rapidly wean the economic bloc off Russian fossil fuels by fast forwarding its energy transition, adding more renewable power and faster, save more energy and diversify its energy supplies.

As part of the €300bn ($316bn) plan, the Commission proposed to increase the EU’s renewables target to 45% by 2030, up from 40% envisaged now as well as a dedicated EU Solar Strategy to double PV capacity by 2025 and install 600GW by 2030.
