Campaigners protesting at Iberdrola’s plans for a £6.5bn ($8.8bn) offshore wind complex off eastern England said they are plotting court action and “more activism” after two sub-projects finally received development consent from the UK government, days before it is expected to announce a ramp-up in national ambitions for the sector.
Fiona Gilmore, founder of Suffolk Energy Action Solutions (SEAS), told Recharge the group will “show its claws” after UK energy secretary Kwasi Kwarteng on Thursday gave the green light to the up-to 800MW East Anglia 1 North and 900MW East Anglia 2 projects.
