Spanish energy group Gas Natural has approached Portugal’s EDP over a potential merger that could create a new European giant with a strong renewables footprint, financial newswire Reuters reported.
Discussions over a €35bn ($39.7bn) merger are “still at an early stage and there is no certainty over their outcome”, said Reuters, citing four unnamed sources with knowledge of the matter.
