Governor Kathy Hochul re-staked New York's claim as the leading US offshore wind state with measures including $500m towards supply chain and port infrastructure, a further multi-gigawatt procurement round, grid integration moves, and a new 'Master Plan' to "unlock the next frontier".

New York already has 4.3GW of offshore wind power from five projects under contract, mostly with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) which will hold its round three solicitation the first half of 2022 for at least 2GW more, putting the state on the path to its goal of tapping 9GW of spinning capacity by 2035.
