Power shortages that hit China over recent months have added to wind power’s momentum in the Asian economic superpower, with more offshore turbines than previously expected set to be deployed off its coasts this decade, according to Wood Mackenzie.

The energy-focused research group in its latest quarterly 10-year global market outlook added 69GW to its previously forecast capacity additions to the end of the decade, largely thanks to an upgrade of 48GW to the expected Chinese contribution.
