Norwegian oil major Equinor and UK utility SSE Renewables have reached a financial close on Dogger Bank C, the third phase of what will be the world’s largest offshore wind farm with 3.6GW when fully operational in 2025.

The 1.2GW third phase will feature 87 of GE’s Haliade-X offshore wind turbines, uprated to reach 14MW.

The financial close comes a week after Shell and Danish energy trading company Danske Commodities had signed additional long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) that increase previously agreed offtakes from the project and put its economics on a more solid footing.
