The family of a wind farm security worker who froze to death at work said it hopes the industry learns lessons from the tragedy.

Ronnie Alexander died in hospital in January 2018 days after being exposed to extreme weather for several hours while guarding the under-construction Afton Wind Farm in East Ayrshire, Scotland.

A court hearing in Ayr heard construction group Northstone (NI) and a security firm failed to provide a reliable source of heating, and ensure an emergency communications and evacuation procedure was in place for the 74-year-old and another staff member who was also airlifted from the site.
