Siemens Gamesa is sticking by the 5.X turbine platform as a market winner despite the launch issues that have delayed plans to turn around its onshore operation, said CEO Andreas Nauen after the ramp-up there was cited as a key factor in unexpected additional costs that have hit the OEM giant.
Nauen said the challenges of rolling out the turbine in Brazil – where it won large early orders – amid pandemic-induced supply chain issues prompted the company to look closely at whether there is a “fundamental question” over the 5.X
