New Jersey has selected Atlantic Shores and Orsted to supply 2.66GW of power in its highly-anticipated second offshore wind solicitation and, in a major win for the US state, the projects’ expected turbine suppliers Vestas and GE Renewable Energy committed to investing in new nacelle assembly facilities at a planned $400m purpose-built port along the Delaware River.

The nacelle facilities represent the first sector investments by either OEM in the US and a significant step forward as the fast-emerging industry moves to establish a manufacturing supply chain to meet President Joe Biden’s 30GW by 2030 offshore wind target.
