Equinor will develop gas- and renewables-based hydrogen projects at the same time to create a market and push prices down, the Norwegian oil major’s executive vice president for New Energy Solutions, Pål Eitrheim, has told Recharge.

The company continues to back ‘blue’ H2, which is produced from natural gas linked to carbon capture and storage (CCS), but increasingly has been joining large projects developing ‘green’ hydrogen, generated via electrolysis from renewable energy.
