Orsted is planning to build in carbon capture technology to reduce emissions from a 100MW straw-fired biomass plant at a combined heat and power station on the outskirts of the Danish capital of Copenhagen.

The utility said it has identified the plant as the best point source of sustainable CO2 for the next phases of the Green Fuels for Denmark (GFD) power-to-x facility at the Avedøre site, which over time is planned to reach a total capacity of 1.3GW
