The US is set to miss President Joe Biden’s goal to deploy 30GW of offshore wind by 2030, said analyst group BloombergNEF as it named the top five states that could help get America on course to meet longer term ambitions for wind at sea.

America is on track to have 23GW of turbines in the water by the end of the decade, with the shortfall due to a mismatch between the procurement plans in place from individual states so far and the higher federal goal, Imogen Brown, wind energy analyst at BNEF, told the US Offshore Wind 2021 conference organised by Reuters Events.
