To meet the EU’s legally binding target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030, the share of renewable energy in the electricity mix will need to reach 65% by 2030 — up from 38% in 2020.

This means that hundreds of gigawatts of new wind and solar projects will need to be installed across Europe this decade, requiring a much faster roll-out of turbines and PV panels.
