The huge uplift in renewables seen in 2020 took installations to a “new normal” level that is set to hold for the next two years, said the International Energy Agency (IEA), as it raised previous short-term forecasts for green power growth and tipped solar to set the pace while wind drops back.

The IEA expects around 270GW of new renewable capacity additions this year and about 280GW in 2022, keeping roughly level with the 280GW installed in 2020.
