Global solar installation could soar by 50% this year amid a “massive expansion” of key elements of the supply chain, according to analysts at BloombergNEF who said even the threat of sanctions on China is unlikely to send growth off course.

The research group expects between 160GW and 209GW of new solar to be added around the world in 2021, up from a “higher than expected” figure of about 141GW last year.
