Suntech Power Holdings says it plans to build a 10MW solar installation on the Tibetan Plateau.. The project, at 4,000 metres above sea level, would be one of the highest on the planet. The system, to be built this year in Chek Kang village, in the Shannan prefecture, will help address power shortages resulting from reduced volumes in the region's hydropower reservoirs caused bydroughts, says the Chinese solar giant.
