US tidal-energy developer Ocean Renewable Power (ORPC) has forged a deal with electricity co-operative Homer Electric Association (HEA) to work together on a 5MW pilot turbine installation near the town of Nikiski, Alaska. The project - an array of ORPC's TidGen and OcGen systems flowing power on to the Kenai region's grid - could be running at top capacity by 2017, ORPC tells Recharge .
