GH was formed in 1984, and employs over 360 engineers and consultants in 18 countries. It has acted as an engineering consultant for banks or owners for over 22 gigawatts (GW) of wind farm capacity around the world, and has also carried out energy assessments totalling over 100GW. GL employs around 6,400 engineers in 80 countries across all areas of its business, which are mainly focused on the oil-and-gas and shipping industries.
Garrad Hassan bought by Germanischer Lloyd
UK based wind-sector specialists Garrad Hassan (GH) has been acquired by German consulting and engineering giant Germanischer Lloyd (GL) for an undisclosed sum. The two companies will form a new renewable-energy division made up of over 600 staff at 34 locations, which will be led by GH chief executive Andrew Garrad.
