The well, at the company’s site about 115 kilometres east of Reno, Nevada, was drilled last June and testing was completed in December. The well can produce a sustained flow of 1,200 gallons a minute (4,542 litres) at a temperature of 385 degrees Fahrenheit (196.1 Celsius). Magma has posted a video of the flow testing.
The well is being connected to power plants, which were refurbished last autumn to accommodate additional production.
