Karl Gawell, executive director of the Geothermal Energy Association, tells Recharge that the current incentive structure – a $0.021 per kWh production tax credit that expires in 2013 – leaves out developers of larger projects that will not begin production in time, and is completely useless for the growing field of smaller scale, distributed geothermal generation projects that do not sell electricity to the grid.
