Statkraft as part of its stepped-up global renewables expansion is aiming to build “several hundred megawatts of wind and solar” per year in the “key” German market, Claus Urbanke, the Norwegian giant’s head of development for the two technologies in the country, told Recharge.

Statkraft – already Europe’s largest renewables producer due to its giant hydro-power base – in a strategy update in June said it plans to boost its annual wind, solar and battery storage additions from 2.5-3GW in 2025 to 4GW in 2030, plus some 2GW of green hydrogen by then.
