The US Department of Energy (DoE) has launched a $2.5bn programme to facilitate construction of new transmission lines and upgrade existing ones, a down payment on a broader $20bn initiative to help prepare the electric grid to become carbon-free by 2035.
DoE issued a request for information (RFI) on Tuesday seeking public input on the structure of the policy created by the bipartisan 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
