Planned legislation to skim off ‘excess’ revenues of German renewable power generation is unconstitutional according to an expert legal opinion commissioned by national solar industry association BSW, which revealed a vox pop poll showing that most Germans reject the measure.

BSW managing director Carsten Körnig asked lawmakers discussing the measure this week to amend the proposal that had been approved by the cabinet of Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Friday. Otherwise, investment security in the solar sector and climate protection are at stake, and a flood of lawsuits could follow, he warned.
