Plans for “industrial-scale” offshore wind-powered green hydrogen production on an island off northern Scotland were unveiled by a group including oil supermajor TotalEnergies and finance giant Macquarie.

A proposed green hydrogen hub on the island of Flotta would take power from the 2GW West of Orkney Windfarm planned by a consortium of TotalEnergies, Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (GIG) and local developer RIDG.
