Shell is hunting for an executive to help build an offshore wind business in Japan, in another sign of burgeoning interest by major western players in the sector there.

The oil & gas group is advertising for a business development lead based in Tokyo as part of the Global Renewable Solutions unit within the Shell New Energies division.

Shell said the new hire would be “a key role to realise our offshore wind ambitions in Japan” who would “at any point in time [be] contributing/leading multiple projects and, in future – supporting the management of operating assets”.
