French oil & gas supermajor TotalEnergies made its biggest move yet into US renewable energy with a deal to acquire a 50% stake in developer Clearway Energy Group (CEG).

San Francisco-based CEG – said by TotalEnergies to be the fifth-largest US renewable energy player – according to a statement has a 25GW green power and storage project pipeline and 7.7GW in operation via Clearway Energy, a so-called yieldco which takes on completed projects from its parent group and is 42%-owned by CEG.
