Mainstream Renewable Power further ramped up its ambitions in the Chilean renewables market with plans for another 1GW-plus of wind and solar.

The Ireland-based developer – now 75%-owned by Norway’s Aker Horizons – aims to deploy six phases of development in the South American nation, with the first 255MW chunk starting construction by 2022.

The developer will look to add battery storage capabilities at some of the projects, it said.
