British industry body RenewableUK (RUK) has called on the country’s government to “demonstrate greater ambition” in its next round of clean-energy auctions by raising the cap 25% to 15GW, opening the door to more rapid deployment of wind, solar and marine renewables plant.

RUK’s incoming CEO Dan McGrail said the current limit, of 12GW, for the fourth contracts for difference (CfD) tender would hold back “maximisation” of the “green industrial revolution in the UK.
