French banking giant BNP Paribas will no longer provide financing for new oil and gas projects as the lender seeks to align its credit portfolio with net zero climate targets.
The bank announced on Thursday that no credit lines will be sanctioned for the development of new oil and gas fields “regardless of the financing methods”.
The lender had first announced its plans to withdraw from oil and gas exploration and production related activities in January this year.
