EDPR signs ‘largest wind power deal’ in Canada’s oil sands capital with firm that scrapped $9bn pipeline

Renewables major EDPR through its Canadian unit has secured a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) for a 297MW wind project in Alberta from pipeline operator TC Energy, which recently terminated its controversial $9bn Keystone XL pipeline project amid a storm of protest.

Under the agreement, TC Energy for 15 years will purchase 100% of the electricity output of the Sharp Hills Wind Farm.
