Greater Copenhagen power company Hofor is joining the ‘Green Fuels for Denmark’ consortium led by renewables developer Orsted that is aiming to build up large-scale production of hydrogen-based sustainable fuels for the Danish capital from 1.3GW or more offshore wind.

Orsted entered into an agreement with Hofor to use power from the fellow utility’s 250MW Aflandshage offshore wind project in the Oresund Strait between Denmark and Sweden for the second phase of the project that foresees the construction of a 250MW electrolyser to produce green hydrogen.
