GE Renewable Energy and General Motors (GM) will work together to secure supply of rare earths and other critical materials used in wind turbines and electric vehicles (EVs), amid growing concern over their availability to meet soaring production as the energy transition accelerates.

GE Renewable Energy and global automotive giant GM signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding "to evaluate opportunities to improve supplies of heavy and light rare earth materials, and magnets, copper and electrical steel used for manufacturing of electric vehicles and renewable energy equipment".
