To provide the massive amounts of renewable power and green hydrogen needed to decarbonise Europe and the world by mid-century, bottlenecks in the permitting of new projects and in transmission must be resolved urgently, industry experts told an Enlit Europe event co-organised by Recharge and the International Renewable Energy Agency (Irena).

“How do we speed up the buildout of renewables, because the current pace of installations is nowhere near where it needs to be to get us to net zero by mid-century?” asked moderator, Recharge managing editor Leigh Collins , kicking off the Scaling up renewables for smart electrification and carbon neutrality webinar.
