A Swiss start-up has developed lithium-ion technology that it says will offer comparable performance levels to future solid-state batteries — with double the energy density of conventional Li-ion — that can be mass-produced at the same price as standard lithium-ion.

Innolith says it has already achieved a 50% energy density advantage over Li-ion in pre-production samples by replacing the typical lithium-based liquid electrolyte with its own patented formula that has been developed by its 70-strong team of in-house scientists, engineers and technicians.
