CIP, already a significant investor in Europe’s offshore wind market through projects like Scotland’s Beatrice, will take control of the 166,886 acre (675 sq km) zone won by OffshoreMW in a competitive lease auction in early 2015.
The zone’s value has increased significantly since it was first leased to OffshoreMW in the light of legislation passed recently in Massachusetts mandating the state’s utilities procure 1.6GW
