Located east of Edinburgh in the Scottish Borders region, the development is powered by 60 2.3MW Siemens turbines. It is situated to the west of the original Crystal Rig wind farm.

Together the developments will have a combined capacity of 200MW, enough to supply some 100,000 homes.

“Crystal Rig wind farm shows just how far we have come from the 20 turbines which commenced operation in 2003, an additional five turbines in 2007, through to this latest phase which sees a further 60 turbines installed making the site one of the largest in the UK,” says Fred Olsen Renewables chief executive Torger Lien.
