Shell and Cosan signed the MOU in London yesterday, according to the Brazilian business newspaper Valor Econômico.
Cosan is the greatest producer of ethanol in Brazil, with 23 plants in operation, in a country where ethanol is sold both in its pure form and mixed with gasoline to power flex-fuel cars, which can run on any mix of the fuels.
This would be Shell's first move into first-generation biofuels.
