The Metso contract is worth about €40m ($58.5m).
The plant will be built as part of an existing coal-fired power station in Vassa.
It will use forest residue and other woody biomass to produce gas, which will be combusted along with coal in the existing plant’s boiler.
According to Metso, a Finnish engineering and technology company, the biomass-generated gas will replace between 25% and 40% of coal-burn at the plant.
