Both Renewable Energy Group, which is the biodiesel producer and supplier, and Kansas University are participating in the study.

“We hope this biodiesel blend demonstration will serve as the tipping point for the rail industry’s use of renewable fuels,” says Myron Danzer, vice president of customer and technical service at Renewable Energy.

“We expect to find reduced diesel particulate matter and carbon emissions as well as improved lubricity with the use of biodiesel,” Danzer adds.
