Green Plains is buying the plants from a lending group led by AgStar Financial Services, which purchased six VeraSun plants for $324m in a bankruptcy auction in March. AgStar said at the time it planned to resell the facilities.
Addition of the Nebraska-based plants will increase Green Plains’ ethanol production capacity by 45%, from 330 million to 480 million gallons per year.
