BioJet is using jatropha oil as a feedstock to create a replacement for aviation fuel. The substance, known formally as bio-derived synthetic paraffinic kerosenes (Bio-SPK) is in line for certification by the American Society for Testing and Materials International by the end of next year.
Mitch Hawkins, chief executive of BioJet, says to the best of the company’s knowledge, the contract represents the largest aviation bio fuel sale to date.
