Metso will provide the station’s biomass boiler, while Aker has been brought on board to manage construction, procurement and support services.
The 50-megawatt (MW) plant will replace Tullis Russell’s existing on-site coal-fired power plant, reducing the firm’s carbon footprint by an estimated 70%.
In addition to electricity, the power station will also provide Tullis Russell with heat via a combined-heat-and-power network. It is expected to be operational by 2012.
