The Shenyang-based company, which is expanding its wind turbine manufacturing to the US with plans for a Nevada factory, now wants to seed another aspect of its business: distributed generation.
A-Power says it has signed an agreement with Lincoln County in southeast Nevada to share the cost of evaluating a 10MW plant, fuelled by biomass from nearby pinyon-juniper woodlands.
The county has more than 1 million acres (about 4,050 sq km) of the woodlands on federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands that are targeted for treatment.
