Renewable energy’s global build-out is set to grow by 12% in 2019, reaching almost 200GW, as the sector recovers its upward trajectory after stalling last year, according to the latest numbers from the International Energy Agency (IEA).

The rebound, which is expected to reflect plant capacity being built at a pace last witnessed in 2015, will be led by the construction of 115GW of solar and 53GW of wind, with offshore wind expanding at a “steady” 5GW.
