The parties of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government coalition have included a clause in the energy package passed last Friday that points to a possible future increase of Germany’s offshore wind capacity targets to 20GW.
The country’s target for 2030 is currently 15GW, and the offshore wind sector has long demanded an increase given the steep fall in prices for the technology.
